Alliteration Alliteration is when you start as many words as possible with the same letter or sound, as in "Give me a georgeous girlfriend, a glamorous, glistening godess."

Alliteration can be a very powerful way of writing, but to combine it with rhyming is close to impossible, and not really necessary! It's good enough as it is! Alliteration may sound straight forward, but is one of the verse writing skills that take a lot of patience. It can be unbelievably humorous and a relatively easy way of making an impression if you just have the time to sit down and write it. It's not as easy to remember by heart as a verse written with good rhythm and rhyme and if you're not careful it may become a bit boring if it's too long. A good idea is to start with one letter and then go on to another. If you're writing for someone special - why not use the letters of the persons first name? |
